Kyohei Shindo, a talented blacksmith based in Tosa, is growing a cult following for his ultra thin knife designs. His unique thin grind and polished Kurouchi finish resemble the finish of a Takeda, complemented by the Mazaki-like surgical-style tip of his blades.

As a true Bladesmith, Shindo-san meticulously crafts his own stock, using a blend of Hitachi Blue #2 steel and iron. He favors the traditional warikomi method to create iron-clad carbon steel knives, a technique few blacksmiths continue to practice. This method is known for producing superior knives.

Enthusiasts particularly admire two aspects of Kyohei Shindo's knives. Firstly, his skillful hammering of a gentle "S" curve into his nakiri knives aids in preventing food from sticking. Secondly, the knives' impeccably thin grind allows them to glide through food effortlessly, as if nothing were there.
