Yu Kurosaki Knives
Yu Kurosaki Knives: Masterpieces from Echizen
Yu Kurosaki is one of the most celebrated master blacksmiths in Japan, working out of the legendary Takefu Knife Village. Kurosaki-san is known for his "rockstar" status, pushing the boundaries of knife aesthetics with unique hammer patterns that offer both beauty and functional food release. At Tokushu Knife, we carry his most iconic series, including the world-famous Shizuku and the cutting-edge Gekko.
The Signature Kurosaki Series
Each line from Yu Kurosaki Hamono features a distinct personality and steel choice:
- Shizuku (Droplet): Perhaps Kurosaki’s most famous finish, featuring a beautiful "raindrop" hammer pattern. Usually forged in SG2 (R2) powdered steel, these are elite "lasers" with incredible edge retention.
- Gekko (Moonlight): The newest evolution in the Kurosaki lineup, featuring VG-XEOS steel. This series offers a stunning new aesthetic and advanced stainless performance that balances toughness and sharpness.
- Fujin (Wind God): Named after the Japanese god of wind, this series features a striking, swirling hammer pattern designed to reduce surface tension and sticking.
- Senko (Spark): A cross-hatched, shimmering pattern that reflects light like sparks from the forge, typically available in SG2 or VG10.
Echizen Craftsmanship & Innovation
As the youngest blacksmith to be named a Master of Traditional Crafts, Yu Kurosaki remains at the forefront of the Echizen Hamono tradition. His knives are prized by professional chefs for their lightweight balance, precision grinds, and artistic flair. Whether you are seeking a Yu Kurosaki Bunka for detailed prep or a 210mm Gyuto for heavy lifting, these blades represent the pinnacle of modern Japanese cutlery.
As an authorized dealer, we receive small batches of these hand-forged blades. If the model you want is out of stock, we highly recommend signing up for back-in-stock alerts.
