Leather Strop - Double Sided Buffalo Leather

If you’ve ever wondered how professional chefs keep their knives sharp between services, sadly the answer is probably honing rods, which improperly used can also damage your knife.

We’re here to offer you something so much better, and if properly taken care of, will last you a very long time. Introducing our high quality vegetable tanned buffalo leather strop. Daily use of this strop is sure to keep your knives sharp. By realigning the steel at the cutting surface at the micro scale, it ensures you keep your knives sharper, longer, before they need to be sharpened. This is a relatively hard leather which is why it’ll be a great daily maintenance companion. Though it can be used for deburring as well.

We are excited to offer these new extra large buffalo Leather Strops with plenty of surface area of top quality buffalo leather. This is a very hard leather which underwent a traditional tanning process, resulting in the ability to bring back an edge, even without compound. It is a two-sided strop, with both sides featuring a smooth surface of high quality, hard, buffalo leather.

  • Overall Length: 410mm (16.14 inches)
  • Leather Area: 75mm x 285mm (2.95 inches x 11.22 inches) - this may vary slightly
  • Weight: 329 grams (11.61 ounces)
  • Materials: Pine wood block, Vegetable Tanned Buffalo Leather

We recommend our premium Tokushu Knife Strop Shots to get the best performance out of your strop! They are an add-on sold separately, however, we include one photo of a loaded side for reference.

Great product - easy to use, helps keep knife sharp

I got this strop after someone gifted me a Japanese knife and I started reading up on how to keep it sharp. What I read quickly convinced me to stay away from honing rods (risk of blade damage) and move towards a strop instead. Zach Peters returned my request for information with a phone call and talked me through the strop choices available, the various abrasives and compounds I could use, and technique for effectively using the strop. I made an angle guide (approx 11 degrees) by folding a piece of paper at the corner three times (see pic). Even without adding any kind of compound, the strop helps keep the knife edge sharp. It takes very little time, I use it about once a week for touch-up, and we’ll see where it goes. Guess the next thing for me to do is try the compound on one side, keeping the other side clean for finishing. Thanks to Zach and Tokushu Knife for answering my questions and delivering product quickly. As a bonus, it all came in a fun little “Evidence” box that made me and my family laugh.

Amazing - worth value

For what it is I have absolutely no complaints, one side was slightly longer with the leather than other side and that’s fine with me. Can’t wait to use my Stropping Compound on it.

Xl Bufdalo Strop

Recently added a buffalo leather strop from these guys. Works great, comfortable to hold, feels reasonably durable. If you get one, consider a strop shot to work into one of the sides, it really ups performance.
