You know NSYNC right? Well Shibata Takayuki might just be a member of the band, as he's bringing sharp knives back. He has a reputation for being one of the best sharpeners in all of Japan. And his Koutetsu line is famous for being among some of the best laser grinds available on the market.
The Type 2 line are distinct from the Type 3 line, in that the core steel is SG2, stainless clad, with a k-tip. These knives, no mater the knife line or length, never stay up for long so don't think about purchasing it too hard or it'll be gone.
I own this particular knife, and I can tell you it is amongst my most prized. It is my go to camping knife as the stainless steel properties mean I don't need to baby it as much as carbon steel, especially in the woods. Yet I don't sacrifice sharpness and at 150mm, super versatile from dicing garlic, to portioning your camping meats.
A 150mm petty, also called in some parts of the world a sandwich knife, is the absolute ideal length for any work you need to do putting together a sandwich. Slice open your bread, cut your cherry tomatoes, cut your lettuce, cut your cured meat, you get the drift. If you had to have one petty in your kit, we believe 150mm is the way to go.
A super sought after knife available with no handle to make your own? Now that's a deal! Pair this with one of our custom handles.
