Sakai Takayuki is well respected as the largest knife maker in the Sakai Region. Their knives are reputably known for being good quality at the price, hand made, and delivering the care and experience of 600 years of knife making.

From the gorgeous satin cladding to the personalized maker's mark of Itsuo Doi, the Homura Kogetsu line is unique in enough ways that this is a knife your guests will surely notice as being 'different' then the rest in your collection. With a core of blue #2 steel and a relatively wide grind, these knives are sure to be resilient.

Sakimaru typically refers to the knife tip more than it is telling about the knife shape. As an example, a kiritsuke has a k-tip, as does a bunka, as does a gyuto labelled 'k-tip' gyuto. Think of a sakimaru as just that, telling of the tip shape. In this case swooping up from the cutting edge towards the spine at an angle, like that of a samurai sword (tanto tip).

Here, we have a gorgeous 290mm slicer with a sakimaru tip. Perfect for your large roasts or large portions of sashimi-grade fish. These knives are particularly functional within their range of use, but let's be honest, they are also incredible show pieces.
