Welcome to Masakage: A Home for Master Blacksmiths

Think of Masakage as a collective of talented blacksmiths operating under one roof and name in Echizen, started by Takayuki Shibata, a famed Japanese knife sharpener. The company boasts an assortment of lines, each as unique as the blacksmiths who forge them, offering an aggregation of talent that guarantees a quality Echizen product with every purchase.

The Koishi line of Masakage is among its most popular. Forged by Yoshimi Kato, knives in this line feature a core of Blue Super Steel (Aogami Super) enveloped in stainless cladding with a hammered (tsuchime) pattern and an attractive matte kurouchi finish. This high-performance core steel combined with a high-contrast hammer kurouchi finish makes each knife a true stunner.

The 150mm petty, also known in some parts of the world as a sandwich knife, is the ideal length for assembling a sandwich. Whether slicing bread, cutting cherry tomatoes, lettuce, or cured meats, the 150mm petty is perfectly suited for such tasks. If you need just one petty knife in your kit, the 150mm is the recommended choice.
