A beautiful blade and handle, but not OTB sharp

I was really looking forward to this blade from famed smith Y Tanaka. The blade is beautiful with a hazy kasumi finish above the cladding line making the Damascus pattern slightly muted and beautiful like a cloud. The handle of amboyna and horn is a great complement to the blade. My only complaint is that when I went to try the blade, it was a little rough and not very sharp. With some deburring and stropping the edge came into form and it slices like warm steel passing through butter. Really enjoying the blade which has started a nice patina of blues and oranges.
