When you see a Satoshi Nakagawa knife in the wild, you can immediately tell it is forged from someone with a tremendous amount of skill. That is because Nakagawa-san's teacher was none other than the famous Kenichi Shiraki of Shiraki Hamono.
Of course, every blacksmith must one day pass down the torch to enjoy their days in the mountainside, as opposed to the hot sooth covered factory. Nakagawa-san was that man whom the torch was handed to when Shiraki-san retired in 2020. Satoshi Nakagawa is not only capable of forging knives using a variety of steels but can also create honyaki knives, which require a tremendous amount of skill and discipline.
Here, Nakagawa-san shows his skill by offering an absolutely stunning blue carbon core steel #1 wrapped in a very high contrast iron Damascus knife. His embossed maker's mark is also very pronounced in this knife adding to the magic of a truly masterful handmade piece.
Perhaps the most often seen and recognizable by non-Japanese kitchen knife users is the yanagiba. Traditionally single bevel, this is the knife you'll immediately notice when going to a sushi restaurant and are wondering what that long sabre like knife the chef is using to prepare your sushi. The kiritsuke tip adds even more functionality, allowing for fine detail work and scoring skin with ease!
The only thing this gorgeous knife is missing, is a gorgeous custom handle. Choose yours here!
