The DaoVua 2.0 Series is a new release from an up and coming blacksmith. They have started their business in the remote jungle of Vietnam, by skillfully hand hammering leaf springs into useable cutlery and fashioning them with beautiful local hardwoods.
With many challenges along the way, they have continuously improved their knives, continually upgrade their tools, materials, handles, grinds, which brings us to today. DaoVua has brushed themselves off from a long journey and emerged as a legit blacksmith.
The current model, DaoVua 2.0 features fantastic thin grinds, hard German Carbon Steel, and a classy / rustic finish, which they have proved is a thing. The new handles are made of Padauk, a premium woodworking hardwood in which the famous Amboyna Burl is derived. This wood is durable, performs well in any climate, has beautiful patterns, and they top if off with a buffalo horn ferrule!
DaoVua is passionate about bringing REAL HAND FORGED CARBON STEEL KNIVES to the market at a fifth of the price of a Japanese contemporary. Many Americans have been attacked by the onslaught of well marketed junk knives disguised as something of quality. We stand behind these, and we also PROFESSIONALLY SHARPEN each one before we ship it, which is typically a $15 service for this type of knife. The shocking out of box sharpness has made many people transition to non - stainless carbon steel because of its astounding performance. It does require a bit more care than stainless, which means you need to carefully hand wash and dry it immediately after use. This becomes an enjoyable ritual for many who get a connection with their tool, and keep it to optimal form. This may be hard to understand if you have not yet entered the world of a real handmade knife. We extend our hand with a NO RISK trial, in which you can send it back for a full refund if you do not enjoy it as much as we think you will.
