Miyazaki Kajiya AS Wrought Iron Honwarikomi 210mm Gyuto (No Handle)

Product Description

We are thrilled to have acquired this rare collection of Wrought Iron Honworikami Aogami Super Knives by Miyazaki-san. Each knife is a unique creation- so if you have serious interest contacts us to go over specs. Haruki Miyazaki is a younger and very passionate bladesmith based in the Nagasaki prefectecture of Japan. Miyazaki-san works alone in his small forge on the Goto islands doing everything as handmade as possible. All of his knives are hand laminated, heat treated using pine charcoal, and water quenched.

This series is made from Aogami Super Steel laminated in wrought iron. The blade is kurouchi finished with a light tsuchime hammered pattern. The spine and choil are rounded for comfort. Comes fitted with an octagonal oak handle.

"Miyazaki Kajiya" is located in Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture, a city rich in nature, and its knives are made entirely by hand. The craftsman, Haruo Miyazaki, is the third generation of the Oba blacksmith family from Fukuoka Prefecture. He had been trained for five years under Toshio Oba, a master craftsman who forged the traditional "Hakata Ippon Hocho”. He makes knives with the artistry that only a field smith can create, including the Tsubaki knife, which has a unique shape similar to the Hakata knife.
