Takamura SG2 Migaki 170mm Santoku with Red Western Handle

Introducing the Takamura Migaki SG2 (AKA R2) 170mm Santoku - a knife that's highly praised for its exceptional edge retention and wear resistance. This double-edged blade, crafted from R2/SG2 stainless steel with a 62-63 HRC, is built for durability and precision. Its 170mm (6.7") length and 1.7mm thickness make it versatile for various cutting tasks. The 45mm (1.8") blade height and the comfortable red Pakka wood handle, measuring 120mm (4.7") in length, ensure efficient slicing and a firm grip.

The santoku, meaning "three virtues", excels in slicing, dicing, and chopping. The Takamura Migaki 170mm santoku combines aesthetic appeal, high-performance grinding, and a lightweight design, making it an essential tool for any kitchen.

To ensure its longevity, hand washing and towel drying are recommended. Use a sharpening stone to maintain the blade's edge. Avoid cutting frozen items or bones to prevent chipping or damage.

Experience the exceptional cutting performance of the Takamura Migaki SG2 170mm Santoku, a knife that stands out in both design and function.

One of the Best Knife

I had knifes ranging from $100 to $2000.

But this is my everyday Knife. Its razor sharp and has a very comfortable handle.

Great knife at a great price.

I hadn't used or handled a Takamura knife before purchasing this one. They had positive reviews online and a hybrid Eastern-Western offering peaked my interest. Eastern being santoku blade with a western style handle.

SG2 steel quality is high and the blade is really nice. Well finished, sharp, clean comfortable bolster, and the handle is very comfortable. Wood quality is great, pins are finished and can't be felt. So no rough edges or any discernible cost cutting, quality issues. It balances well in hand and I have no complaints or criticisms.
