DAO VUA V3 52100 Sakimaru Slicer 350mm

For those that venture outside of Japanese-made kitchen knives, you need only scour the internet for a few minutes before you eventually come across the brand Dao Vua. Who are they and why have they taken the internet and market by storm? The story of Dao Vua and their kitchen knife price point is really where it begins.

Here is the short and dirty version of their humble beginnings, which you can easily find online. Dao Vua knives are handmade in Hanoi, Vietnam by barefoot Vietnamese bladesmiths, using recycled materials, from what they call leaf spring steel. At the price point of these knives, they are seriously impressive from build to sharpness. Though, they may not be for you if you struggle to take care of your knives. Being carbon steel even if with a kurouchi finish, they sharpen easily, but also oxidize easily so care should be taken to maintain a dry knife.

Once again with the third iteration to their knives "V3", Dao Vua has addressed another issue users have sometimes worried about. If the metal used is from recycled materials, how can consistency of the final product be assured? Enter sourcing 52100 carbon steel from the US with this V3 line. SO, sounds like every time a end product user has a demand it seems to be met. What else would you like to see from this exciting Vietnamese knife company?

Dao Vua 350mm slicer

This is my third Dao Vua knife. Is it a fine japaneese knife? No, but for the price I am very pleased. The saya is very nice. The blade is straight and the grind is pretty good but the karouchi finish could be a little nicer. Fairly sharp out of the box and a few minutes on a strop with green compound got it working sharp. A few minutes on the stones should get it razor sharp.

Beautiful and sharp

Great product at a great price.
Very sharp and sturdy. Knife looks and handles very well. Be sure to keep it clean, dry, and oiled.

Minor nitpicks (and i do mean minor): where the collar and blade meet had a little glue exposed, and there's a minor bevel near the heel of the knife.

I'd absolutely recommend dao vua knives.
